The Gibb Children Pay Tribute To The Bee Gees As The Gibb Collective

The children of Barry, Maurice, Robin and Andy Gibb have combined to tribute the music of their parents as The Gibb Collective.

What started out as a single recording by Maurice’s daughter Samantha Gibb soon became a full project with all of the cousins.

“It started when my partner Lazaro and I decided to do a cover of ‘New York Mining Disaster 1941,” says Samantha. “We loved the way it turned out and thought it would be really cool to do more if it. We had been wanting to do a tribute for a long time for my dad and my uncles. It started to feel like the right time so we started to reach out then we talked to everybody. Each person decided to do a take on a track that was one of their favourites. The next thing we knew we had a 10 song album”.

The Gibb Collective was founded in 2016 by Maurice’s daughter, Samantha, and quickly blossomed from a single – “New York Mining Disaster 1941” recorded by Samantha – into their first full album. The album is a collection of covers infused with new life and recorded by the children and the younger sister of all four Gibb brothers, and will aptly be released on April 14th, during the 50th Anniversary of the Bee Gees.

The Bee Gees have been such an awesome musical force for so many years, singing, songwriting, arranging and producing some of the most influential and important songs of the 20th century. It’s even more impressive when you realize that they were writing and performing songs as a band since their teens....To read more go to:

The Celebrity Cafe Review

The Gibb Collective, founded in 2016, celebrates the unique voices of the children of legendary artists Barry, Robin, Andy and Maurice Gibb. The project began when Samantha, daughter of Maurice Gibb and her producer. Lazaro Rodriguez, recorded a cover of “New York Mining Disaster, 1941.” The two were so pleased with the outcome that they were inspired to build upon the idea, making it a true family affair. Even though these talented relatives are spread out all over the globe, they were able to come together to pay tribute to the impressive musical legacies of their fathers.

Each of the 10 Gibb family members featured on the album put modern, personal spins on classic Bee Gees tracks. The Gibb Collective took liberties with the songs they chose to put on their first official album, but lines to the original songs can be drawn clearly. Particularly stunning is the title track, “Please Don’t Turn Out the Lights,” which features the eldest of each of the brothers’ kids working together in perfect harmony. Spencer Gibb’s take on “Don’t Fall in Love With Me,” first released by the Bee Gees in 1981, is another standout. His is a folk-inspired interpretation, but doesn’t deviate too far from the foundation of the original version.

Video Music Stars Review

The Gibb Collective is a musical tribute, and a family legacy.  On the input of Maurice’s daughter, Samantha, the children of Andy, Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb have found a new way to honor their fathers through breathing new life into the more than memorable Bee Gee classics of the 60’s and 70’s. And what better title for the 10-track album, than “Please Don’t Turn Off The Lights”. Even though, to be fair to their fathers, ‘turning the lights off’ of the Bee Gees is an impossible task, considering the indelible mark they have left in the history popular music.
